I totally share Woody Allen's love of beautiful cities. First New York, then Paris and now Rome. Definitely makes me want to live in these cities. Thoroughly enjoyed "To Rome With Love".  #perpetualfanofWoodyAllen

I spent a significant amount of time in 2023 living in Washington D.C. While a lot of the year was spent on managing a steep learning curve at work, traveling to conferences and shuttling between Atlanta and DC, I managed to explore DC a little. I had visited DC a few times before, but living here gave me an opportunity to explore it in more depth. I absolutely loved taking the Metro everywhere. It reminded me of living in Mumbai and I felt comfortable and absolutely safe. I took the Metro at all odd hours, even taking the last one at midnight a few times and never felt unsafe. There are several advantages to using the Metro in DC. It connects different neighborhoods in DC very well. The few times that I took an Uber/Lyft, I was stuck in traffic for long enough to regret my decision. On the weekends the charge is a flat $2 each way, no matter how far or close you are traveling. Udaipur: Places Outside the City

In my previous post , I listed places in the city of Udaipur that are worth a visit. In this post, I am listing places outside the city of Udaipur that are equally beautiful and have a rich history. You will definitely need a car and the drive is long. You could easily spend a night in the nearby towns, if you like.  Kumbalgarh: Both the forts that we visited were my favorites and I would rate this as a hit. Getting here was a different story though. The car ride was a bit rough. The roads are OK and it is a 3 hour drive. Most rental car drivers also did not really want to drive this route. But, it is a lovely place. You can combine a trip to Kumbalgarh with Ranakpur Jain temple. Once you reach closer to the fort, you will start seeing resorts and hotels. GGC Fright Fest

The SGA took 35 lucky students to Six Flags. Obviously when you take students for an off campus trip, you need chaperons. So, 14 lucky faculty members were requested to accompany the students. An amazing trip......Of course I knew the students were not eager to hang out with faculty, but some of them did manage to surprise me......It was good to spend some time with the students and enjoy rides at Six Flags with zombies, witches, ghosts and skeletons walking all around the park, trying to be scary and at the same time posing for pics with the crowd.....I hope the Halloween Extravaganza next week is successful too......
