"Every lawyer at least once in every case feels himself crossing a line he doesn't really mean to cross. It just happens. And if you cross it enough times, it disappears forever." -- Rudy Baylor in John Grisham's The Rainmaker.
I keep adding new songs to my iPod every now and then and keep listening to the new ones over and over again. Yesterday for some reason I decided to listen to some older songs and decided to go for Jhankaar Beats . I had completely forgotten how much I used to like this song: Dil ne tumko chun liya hai Tum bhi isko chuno na Khwab koi dekhta hai Tum bhi sapne buno na Dil ye mera tumse kuch keh raha hai Suno na.......... Not only had I forgotten all about this song, but I had also forgotten what a hardcore romantic I used to be. Year: 1996 Location: Kirti Group Tuitions, Dombivli (E) Scene: I was in the 12th grade and was going to Pabrekar Sir for PCMB tuitions. Following are the "responses" she got: Guy: I don't want a girl who earns more than I do. Guy's mom: We don't want a girl from IT. They have...
Before anyone takes offense to the term "Third World" being used in reference to India, let's talk about what exactly is a third world nation. Even though the term is usually used to refer to poor, non-industrialized countries, the term originated during Cold War. It was used to refer to nations that did not align with either US, Western Europe and their allies nor with the Communist Bloc (Soviet Union, China and their allies). Pandit Nehru instead was influenced by different things from both the First and Second World. The five year plans were inspired by Soviet Union's five year plans. However, he preferred Gandhiji's non- violence to their armed revolution. He also preferred Western ideas of electoral democracy over a single party rule (and freedom of press). While people may (rightly) have different opinions on Nehru's politics, the idea of choosing the best from a myriad options seems like a good idea to me. Third World doesn't seem so bad after all...
