Here's my problem with this interview.... I totally agree with Sardesai's views.. Obviously!!!! But, dude... you are interviewing a politician. Do you really think you are going to get him to admit to anything on your nationally televised show???? And honestly who was interviewing whom?? Why would you get so emotional that you let your opponent control you... As Shreyas pointed out, Thackeray was of course avoiding answering any questions and was talking in tangents... and after some time Sardesai was doing the same too... When he couldn't get Thackeray to answer a question or admit to something, he was bringing up other issues... This is what I noticed from Larry King and others on CNN.... You give everyone a limited amount of footage and raise issues and make them uncomfortable (especially when you know they are not going to admit to anything). When you give them an hour to talk (like in this interview), it's just going back and forth and round and round on the same few issues without getting anywhere and loses any impact the interview could have had....
The first few minutes of this interview were great.. Sardesai was very straight forward.. I was surprised that he had the guts to say these things to a politician on national TV in India. But then it seemed pointless!!!! And that's when he should have ended it... Learn from Larry King, Wolf Blitzer and Campbell Brown.... Keep moving from issue to issue... You are a newsperson... raise the issues... Solving them is a long process and what you are doing is a good contribution...
